Apatite Fission Track Analysis
Detrital ZFT
-Up to 30 (Standard) or 120 (Detrital) ZFT grain ages.
-Includes UPb ages, major + minor + trace + REE elements; data sorted into populations based on REE+UPb age (indicative of source terrain)
Detrital AFT
-Up to 40 (standard) or 120 (Detrital) AFT grain ages and 200 track lengths.
-Includes Dpar, Dper, UPb ages, major + minor + trace + REE elements; data sorted into populations based on REE+UPb age (indicative of source terrain)
Standard Apatite (UPb)
Detrital Apatite UPb
-Up to 60 (Standard) or 120 (Detrital) apatite UPb grain ages.
-Includes common-Pb-corrected UPb ages, Concordia intercept age(s), selection of major + minor + trace + REE elements; data sorted into populations based on REE+UPb age (indicative of source terrain)
Standard Zircon UPb
Detrital Zircon UPb
-Up to 60 (Standard) or 120 (Detrital) zircon UPb grain ages.
-Includes concordia intercept age(s), selection of major + minor + trace + REE elements; data sorted into populations based on REE+UPb age (indicative of source terrain)
Apatite and Zircon
The ideal minimum number of >20 µm-diameter apatite and zircon grains required for the above methods is about 200. We can work with less and prefer more.
Outcrop Sample
1 kg of granite or granodiorite sample, or equivalent is ideal. For most samples, 250-500 g is sufficient but 1 kg allows for multiple mineral separations of poor-yield samples.
Drill Core
1 kg of sandstone sample, or equivalent is ideal. For most samples, 250-500 g is sufficient but 1 kg allows for multiple mineral separations of poor-yield samples.
Drill Cuttings
1 kg of sandstone sample, or equivalent is ideal. For most samples, 250-500 g is sufficient but 1 kg allows for multiple mineral separations of poor-yield samples.
