At DinéGEO, our mission is to spark curiosity and build knowledge about Diné land formations, geologic processes, and Earth’s dynamic systems through science education rooted in Diné values. We serve communities across and beyond the Navajo Nation by providing meaningful, hands-on STEM learning that connects students to the land and the science beneath it.
Guided by the Diné principles of Nitsáhákees (Thinking), Náhát’á (Planning), Ííná (Living/Doing), and Siihasin (Reflection), we strive to enhance academic achievement and environmental responsibility.
We also collaborate with local and global organizations on thermochronology research, contributing to the broader geoscience community through shared knowledge, fieldwork, and scientific discovery. Through these efforts, DinéGEO creates pathways for students and researchers to engage with science in ways that are meaningful, relevant, and lasting.
We envision a future where students across the Navajo Nation and beyond become confident, capable stewards of their land and knowledge. They are equipped with the tools of science, grounded in cultural values, and inspired to lead.
At DinéGEO, we strive to create a world where earth science education reflects the landscapes, languages, and histories of the people it serves. Through collaboration, research, and hands-on learning, we aim to support generations of thinkers, planners, doers, and problem solvers who make meaningful contributions to both their communities and the wider scientific community.
